August
The Baby’s Breath
like frost in summer
scatters coolness
over the black -
- the bugs fly swarming
scared from grasses
ranging round
my
garden’s track.
The greens are shocks of
life
from darkness
Miraculous and
earthy all -
- the very air
is humming warmly;
the very sky
pulls flowers tall.
These August days
are
gifts like frosting
Over a heavy
yearlong cake -
- so much to do,
but
for this minute
I have to stop and
just
partake.
